{"id":3766,"date":"2014-09-03T21:10:31","date_gmt":"2014-09-03T21:10:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/redmeadow.com\/?p=3766"},"modified":"2014-09-03T21:10:31","modified_gmt":"2014-09-03T21:10:31","slug":"new-siding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/?p=3766","title":{"rendered":"New siding."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our contractor friend came this morning to begin the project of replacing all the original wood siding which had been improperly installed and was unpainted and had no finish at all to protect it from warping or weathering.\u00a0 Like Dan says whenever we started doing a project like this, &#8220;It&#8217;s never too late to build it correctly.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He pulled off boards on one section of the house and discovered two of the residents we knew were living under the siding, and that we didn&#8217;t want living under the siding.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3773\" style=\"width: 660px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/bat1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3773\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3773\" title=\"bat1\" src=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/bat1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"516\" srcset=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/bat1.jpg 650w, https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/bat1-300x238.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3773\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The second of two bats that we found.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The first time we saw this bat, he was sitting on the end of a pry bar with his mouth wide open, looking perturbed.\u00a0 Such sharp little teeth he had!\u00a0 Jack put him into a bush and we were standing on the front porch talking about the work to be done when this little guy returned and landed briefly on my shoulder before heading back to his former home on the side of the house, which is now missing all the lovely (from a bat point of view) wood siding just perfect for keeping him snug as a bug.<\/p>\n<p>Sorry about that batty buddy!\u00a0 But you and your bee and wasp friends are going to have to go elsewhere.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3774\" style=\"width: 660px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/bat2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3774\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3774\" title=\"bat2\" src=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/bat2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"515\" srcset=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/bat2.jpg 650w, https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/bat2-300x237.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3774\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Shivering, and looking for a hidey hole. Poor little thing.
