It was interesting to watch how deftly he drove that little machine.<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_3593\" style=\"width: 660px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/may1-greenhouse3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3593\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3593\" title=\"may1-greenhouse3\" src=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/may1-greenhouse3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"435\" srcset=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/may1-greenhouse3.jpg 650w, https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/may1-greenhouse3-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3593\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A bunch of work laying on the grass.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The first pile of covered boards is 2&#215;10 cedar, a variety of lengths.\u00a0 They will be used to make the raised beds in the greenhouse.\u00a0 The middle pile is 6&#215;6 treated lumber which will be foundation of the greenhouse.\u00a0 The farthest pile is also treated lumber 2&#215;6 boards, which will make the framework of the greenhouse.\u00a0 Behind the tree are other materials, mostly half inch welded wire mesh which will go on the bottom of the raised beds in the greenhouse, and around the exterior of the garden fence.<\/p>\n<p>Today the excavator showed up to haul topsoil down the hill from our upper 20 acres.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3594\" style=\"width: 660px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/may1-greenhouse4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3594\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3594\" title=\"may1-greenhouse4\" src=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/may1-greenhouse4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"435\" srcset=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/may1-greenhouse4.jpg 650w, https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/may1-greenhouse4-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3594\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">First, though, he used the backhoe to smooth out and level the place where we will build the greenhouse.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>And then he started making trips up and down the hill, hauling one cubic yard of dirt each trip.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3595\" style=\"width: 660px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/may1-greenhouse5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3595\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3595\" title=\"may1-greenhouse5\" src=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/may1-greenhouse5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"435\" srcset=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/may1-greenhouse5.jpg 650w, https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/may1-greenhouse5-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3595\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">That&#39;s a big pile of dirt.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Really good topsoil, though, perfect consistency and a lot of organic material in the dirt.\u00a0 It&#8217;s so close to the greenhouse that it should be fairly easy to move it once we have the raised beds in place.<\/p>\n<p>The raised beds will be attached to both the foundation boards and the walls of of the greenhouse, and once they are full of dirt it should make the structure too heavy to be moved by high winds.<\/p>\n<p>So now, all we have to do is put this all together.\u00a0 A lot of work.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tuesday this week a truck showed up with a bunch of building materials on top of the flat bed.
