These made up the veggies part of our dinner.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Saute in a baking pan until tender, then add a few beaten eggs, place on top a few slices of fresh tomato, and some Almond milk mozzarella cheese slices, and bake until puffed.\u00a0 Add some Tabasco sauce and serve. \u00a0 Yummy.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve been having salads and stir fry as well.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2992\" style=\"width: 660px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/zuchinni.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2992\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2992\" title=\"zuchinni\" src=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/zuchinni.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"971\" srcset=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/zuchinni.jpg 650w, https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/zuchinni-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2992\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lots of lettuce plants. We&#39;ve been thinning them and eating at the same time. The zucchini plant is starting to produce a lot of baby zucchinis.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Behind the zucchini plant, the marigolds are making lots of blooms, and next to it two spaghetti squash plants are setting the gourds.\u00a0 They are very small yet, but we have probably six weeks until frost, so we are hopeful.<\/p>\n<p>The tomato plants are setting lots of fruit now, and we are hopeful that we will have enough fruit to make tomato sauce for the winter, plus lots of fresh fruit to eat on the salads.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2994\" style=\"width: 660px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/lettuce.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2994\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2994\" title=\"lettuce\" src=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/lettuce.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"435\" srcset=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/lettuce.jpg 650w, https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/lettuce-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2994\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">More lettuce, and we just picked one of the four Napa Chinese Cabbage plants in this picture. It is huge and takes up a big space in the refrigerator. Stir fry veggies is the plan for lunch today.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Beets are about an inch in diameter at the moment, so they are growing well.\u00a0 The carrots are still tiny, in no hurry to grow evidently.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2995\" style=\"width: 660px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/corn.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2995\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2995\" title=\"corn\" src=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/corn.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"435\" srcset=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/corn.jpg 650w, https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/corn-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2995\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Our corn plants are almost four feet tall now, if you count the first two feet of the raised beds.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>We can safely say that corn is not in our immediate future from these plants.\u00a0 We MIGHT see an ear of corn, but highly unlikely.\u00a0 The beet plants behind them are really looking nice, and behind the beet plants the green beans are all starting to set baby green beans like crazy.\u00a0 In a few days we will have all the fresh green beans we can stand.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll have to start doing some preserving this next week.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2996\" style=\"width: 660px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/swisschard.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2996\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2996\" title=\"swisschard\" src=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/swisschard.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"435\" srcset=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/swisschard.jpg 650w, https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/swisschard-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2996\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Swiss Chard is such a pretty plant. We might get a tomato off it.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The watermelon plant behind the tomato plant is just barely starting to bloom &#8211; no melons in our future either.\u00a0 June was just too cool and wet for any of the melon plants.\u00a0 They like hot weather.<\/p>\n<p>Something about our soil is not to the liking of the pepper plants.\u00a0 None of them are thriving.\u00a0 Next year we will have to figure that out.\u00a0 Perhaps more nitrogen&#8230;.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2998\" style=\"width: 660px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/gooseberry.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2998\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2998\" title=\"gooseberry\" src=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/gooseberry.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"435\" srcset=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/gooseberry.jpg 650w, https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/gooseberry-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2998\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">One of our two Gooseberry bushes, this plant more than doubled in size this year. I&#39;m glad we left a lot of space for it.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>We&#8217;re going to plant a Rhubarb plant next to the Gooseberry, and instead of a pile of weeds we&#8217;ll have something delicious to eat.<\/p>\n<p>We are getting ripe strawberries and raspberries to munch on every time we go down to the garden, just a few at a time.\u00a0 Next year we&#8217;ll have much more of both of those things to work with.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2999\" style=\"width: 660px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/fruitbushes.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2999\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2999\" title=\"fruitbushes\" src=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/fruitbushes.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"435\" srcset=\"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/fruitbushes.jpg 650w, https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/fruitbushes-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2999\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The red currant bushes have also doubled in size this year. They all set a few small clumps of fruit, and next year they will definitely produce enough to do something with.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>We need to put up a support structure for the raspberry bushes.\u00a0 They are heavy and fall over, breaking the canes.\u00a0 The black raspberries are starting to turn color and we&#8217;re both really keeping an eye on them, anticipating trying them out.<\/p>\n<p>The blueberry plants are also putting on some growth, as are two grape plants, and the Josta berry plants.\u00a0 And the fruit trees grew about a foot this year.\u00a0 One of our new cherry trees even set a cherry.\u00a0 A Robin tested it for us, and pronounced it quite edible.<\/p>\n<p>Today we have a lot of weeding to do, and our summertime neighbor brought us two small boxes of plums from his place in Idaho, that need to be made into either jelly, jam, or butter.\u00a0 I haven&#8217;t decided which.\u00a0 I have two kinds of plums so perhaps two kinds of preserves will solve my dilemma.<\/p>\n<p>And I brought home a small batch of peaches from the fruit stand this week.\u00a0 We had peach pancakes for breakfast today.<\/p>\n<p>Gardening is fun!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A couple of days ago we walked down to the garden to pick dinner.\u00a0 The plan was to make a fritatta.
