{"id":2329,"date":"2011-05-18T14:29:02","date_gmt":"2011-05-18T22:29:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mtnmacaw.wordpress.com\/?p=2329"},"modified":"2011-05-18T14:29:02","modified_gmt":"2011-05-18T22:29:02","slug":"first-spring-bear-visitor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/?p=2329","title":{"rendered":"First spring bear visitor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;d seen evidence bears were up and around, but hadn&#8217;t seen one in our yard until yesterday.\u00a0 We see bears around here, starting in May and this year is no exception.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2374\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mtnmacaw.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/05\/may17-bear.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2374\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2374\" title=\"may17-bear\" src=\"http:\/\/mtnmacaw.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/05\/may17-bear.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"335\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2374\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Walking around in the fresh new grass growing next to the garden we are building.<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_2375\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mtnmacaw.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/05\/may17-bear1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2375\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2375\" title=\"may17-bear1\" src=\"http:\/\/mtnmacaw.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/05\/may17-bear1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"447\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2375\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A pretty small, probably two years old, black bear, cinnamon color.  They have really thick fur.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>We were watching from the window next to Oro&#8217;s cage.\u00a0 Oro had been watching the bear warily but quietly, until we showed up to join the show.\u00a0 Then Oro started yelling about the bear, very excited that we were watching too.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2376\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mtnmacaw.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/05\/may17-bear2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2376\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2376\" title=\"may17-bear2\" src=\"http:\/\/mtnmacaw.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/05\/may17-bear2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"430\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2376\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&quot;Huh?&quot;<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The bear was 100 yards from the back of the house, down the hill, but when Oro started making commentary, it was noticed.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2377\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mtnmacaw.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/05\/may17-bear3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2377\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2377\" title=\"may17-bear3\" src=\"http:\/\/mtnmacaw.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/05\/may17-bear3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"491\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2377\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Looking around cautiously to see what was making that racket.<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_2378\" style=\"width: 498px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mtnmacaw.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/05\/may17-bear4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2378\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2378\" title=\"may17-bear4\" src=\"http:\/\/mtnmacaw.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/05\/may17-bear4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"488\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2378\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A mouth full of fresh yummy grass attests to what our bear neighbor was up to, down the hill from the house.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>This is just the fellow we will want to keep out of the garden when things are growing and ripe.\u00a0 We still need to figure out the electric fencing, but since nothing is growing, it is far down on the priority list.<\/p>\n<p>Brandon, don&#8217;t show your boyfriend this post, or you&#8217;ll never talk him into visiting!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;d seen evidence bears were up and around, but hadn&#8217;t seen one in our yard until yesterday.\u00a0 We see bears around here, starting in May and this year is no exception.
