{"id":1590,"date":"2010-06-04T15:36:06","date_gmt":"2010-06-04T23:36:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mtnmacaw.wordpress.com\/?p=1590"},"modified":"2010-06-04T15:36:06","modified_gmt":"2010-06-04T23:36:06","slug":"woodwork-is-finished","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/redmeadow.com\/?p=1590","title":{"rendered":"Woodwork is finished"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The walls, ceiling, window sills and trim around the outside of the windows and doors &#8211; it&#8217;s all done.\u00a0 We need to do some cleaning, a bit of sanding and then more cleaning, before varnishing.\u00a0 That&#8217;s our plan for the weekend.\u00a0 Tomorrow morning, bright and early, we&#8217;ll go to town and get the paint supplies we need, including the blue painters&#8217; tape so we aren&#8217;t having to scrape windows.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1598\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mtnmacaw.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/06\/woodwork-done.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1598\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1598\" title=\"woodwork-done\" src=\"http:\/\/mtnmacaw.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/06\/woodwork-done.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"335\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1598\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The floor is the last thing to be completed, and the room is basically square and it is level.  It should be quickly installed next week. <\/p><\/div>\n<p>We think we&#8217;ve identified all the problems and solved them, and it should be smooth sailing from here on.\u00a0 Things remaining to be completed inside the room are to install the flooring concrete backer board, put down thinset mortar and lay the tiles, and then grout once it all dries.\u00a0 Then clean and re-seal the tiles.\u00a0 Then we can put in the outlets, switches, and light.<\/p>\n<p>Dan will start setting traps this weekend for packrats.\u00a0 The foundation is now rodent-proof (hopefully!)\u00a0 We had another bear in the yard a couple of days ago.\u00a0 Terry alerted us to the bear&#8217;s presence.\u00a0 The bear left at fairly high speed, not caring for the sound of a macaw having a fit.<\/p>\n<p>Outside we need to build the deck off the sun room (small landing where the firewood rack will sit.\u00a0 The concrete under the deck is built and even has Chipmunk tracks in it.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1601\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mtnmacaw.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/06\/chiptracks.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1601\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1601\" title=\"chiptracks\" src=\"http:\/\/mtnmacaw.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/06\/chiptracks.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"335\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1601\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">In the immortal words of Alvin, &quot;What&#039;s all over my feets???&quot;<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Siding for the sun room hasn&#8217;t been started yet and needs to be done before we can install the exterior light and outlet, and then we have to paint the outside.\u00a0 Also remaining is to build the small deck and stairs outside our bedroom, and it also needs concrete pads built for the foundation.\u00a0 Once all those things are done, then we can spread the dirt and gravel which are in huge piles in our yard and driveway.<\/p>\n<p>Then we can plant grass seeds and sit back and watch the grass grow as the most exciting thing we have planned for the rest of the year.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1602\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mtnmacaw.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/06\/lilacs.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1602\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1602\" title=\"lilacs\" src=\"http:\/\/mtnmacaw.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/06\/lilacs.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"335\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1602\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lilac outside our bedroom windows is in full bloom.<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_1603\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mtnmacaw.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/06\/bleedingheart.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1603\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1603\" title=\"bleedingheart\" src=\"http:\/\/mtnmacaw.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/06\/bleedingheart.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"335\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1603\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Bleeding Heart plant by the front steps is taller this year, and with so much commotion around the place, it hasn&#039;t been munched flat by deer... yet.<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_1604\" style=\"width: 352px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mtnmacaw.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/06\/iris-to-be.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1604\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1604\" title=\"iris-to-be\" src=\"http:\/\/mtnmacaw.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/06\/iris-to-be.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"342\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1604\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Last year we mulched and fertilized the flower bed by the front door, and for the first time since we moved here, we have iris blooms.  We have no idea what colors.
